Lehigh University’s Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS) Engineering Research Center, in conjunction with the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS), organized the Fifth International Conference on Bridge Maintenance, Safety and Management (IABMAS2010). The conference, held July 11 through 15, 2010, at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, brought together all of the very best work that has been done in the field of bridge maintenance, safety and management and helped to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Lehigh University’s Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS) Engineering Research Center, in cooperation with the University of Naples “Federico II”, organized the Sixth International Specialty Conference on Behaviour of Steel Structures in Seismic Areas (STESSA). The conference, held August 16 through 20, 2009 at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, brought together experts in the field of the behavior of steel structures in seismic areas. The prior editions of the conference were held in Timisoara, Romania (1994), Kyoto, Japan (1997), Montreal, Canada (2000), Naples, Italy (2003), and Yokohama, Japan (2006).

Lehigh University’s Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS) Engineering Research Center organized the Second International Conference on the Fatigue and Fracture in the Infrastructure. The conference, held July 26 through 29, 2009 at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, brought together experts in the field of fatigue and fracture of the civil infrastructure. Over 140 owners, engineers, researchers, and industry leaders presented and discussed recent experiences, effective retrofit strategies, new material applications, monitoring, evaluation and maintenance approaches, and educational issues and needs. The conference included specific seminars entitled “An Introduction to Fatigue and Fracture in the Infrastructure – A State of the Art Overview”, “Fatigue Design of Highway Sign, Luminaire, and Traffic Signal Structures”, and “Evaluation and Enhancement of Steel Bridges Against Fatigue and Fracture Limit States”. Additionally, the conference included 3 keynote plenary sessions and 11 breakout technical sessions.

PITA Project: Integrated Framework using Monitoring and Reliability for Improved infrastructure Management under Uncertainty: Phases 1, 2, and 3

 

The aim of the PITA project is to develop a novel integrated framework using structural health monitoring and reliability technologies for improved bridge management under uncertainty. Through the use of new technologies and the employment of structural health monitoring and reliability approaches, the project is expected to have significant impact on bridge lifetime management practices.
